ART ANNOUNCES TRIPLE LASER STRING II ALIGNMENT GAUGE
Advanced Racing Technologies (ART) of Staatsburg, New York announces the introduction of a new laser-optical measuring device called "Triple Laser String II".
The "Triple Laser String II" utilizes the same race proven laser line generation technology developed by A.R.T. for CART technical inspection system for 1996 and is now being tested in NASCAR and NHRA inspection for the new millennium.
The Triple Laser String II is a portable three head laser system for projecting three vertical parallel reference lines. Two laser beams, one each side of race car, are used for measurements in the "X" axis while the third laser beam is used to establish vehicle centerline from which the two outer laser beams are referenced. The Triple Laser String simulates the traditional three string alignment method used by the race industry but adds a third dimension in the vertical axis. The Triple Laser String II is the first 3D laser measurement device of its kind for performing four wheel alignments and chassis inspection with reference to vehicle centerline.
Each laser head has three axis adjustment capabilities: One in the "X" axis is for side to side movement to set the spacing between the laser beams. A second adjustment in "Y" allows the laser beam to "Pan" or in more common terms to motor sports "Toe Angle". And a third adjustment in "Z" is used in camber angle to set the laser beams vertical or plumb to each other. The camber angle range is +/- 4 degrees. Both camber and toe use fine 127 pitch adjusters giving the customer a 5 micron resolution.
